Welcome to the Maitri Coaching

Welcome to the Maitri Coaching & Consulting newsletter! I am so glad you’re here!

I’m Dr. Anupriya Grover-Wenk, an osteopathically trained Family Medicine physician with a strong interest in medical education. I started Maitri because I didn’t see other people like me in the medical education business, especially those that had a special interest in helping pre-medical and medical students moving on to their next phase, without being harsh or negative. Maitri (pronounced meh-three) has several meanings including benevolence, loving-kindness, friendship, goodwill, and an active interest in others. The loving-kindness aspect of the definition is what I wanted to focus on when I was creating Maitri Coaching & Consulting; I wanted clients to feel like they had a coach and advisor that genuinely was interested in helping them to achieve their goals with the application process, but in a way that was kind, compassionate, and yet pragmatic and honest. Face it, the medical school and residency application processes are hard enough, with many people giving you various opinions that may be outdated or are based on misinformation from “medfluencers” on Instagram and TikTok, or on Reddit or SDN. We are so attuned to hearing negative commentary throughout the application process. Whether it be about going to medical school (“OMG, you are going to be in school forever. Why do you want to waste so much time in your 20s?!!”) or your grades and MCAT score (“You have no shot getting in with that GPA!”) or your specialty choice (“Why would you do Family Medicine? Do you know how hard that is? You’ll be the jack of all trades and master of none!”) Does any of this sound familiar? It can be overwhelming to focus on the application process when there is so much negativity and noise around you!

But that’s where I can come in. I can offer a safe space where we can talk about whether you are ready for medical school now, or down the road. Because that’s what it is about; it’s about preparing and optimizing your application, and all aspects of it, so that you show Admission Committees that you have the knowledge, experience, and grit to get through 10 or more years of training. I promise to be honest and candid about your chances, but I also want to provide you with hope for the time when you will be ready for medical school or residency, and what you need to do to get there.

We all get way too many spam emails these days but I promise you that will not be the case with our newsletter! You will get bi-weekly emails in which you’ll find tips and tricks for the medical school and residency application processes, information about various medical schools and residency programs, and highlights of special topics such as interviewing or writing your personal statement. Also, follow along on our social media where you’ll see me discuss important information about the application process and post recommendations and resources that will help you along the arduous journey of applying to medical school and residency programs. If you are curious about a special topic that we haven’t written about, please send us an email through our contact page and we’ll be happy to research more about it and share that information with everyone!

Once again, welcome to Maitri Coaching & Consulting! For more information about how we can help you, please visit our Services page and set up your free 30-minute discovery call today!
